Blog Post #4 Technology Hardware

I decided to examine the android tablet when it came to looking further into the potential pedagogical functions on it. Android tablets are touchscreen devices developed by Google. You can download tons of applications on this device by accessing the google play store on it. I have found that android tablets tend to have less storage than most people would prefer.

I am all about enhancing learning for the best. The Technology Integration Matrix (TIM) framework described and targeted the use technology for this purpose. I love that the characteristics for this framework are interdependent on each other. The TIM framework includes the following five interdependent characteristics for the learning environment: active, collaborative, constructive, authentic, and goal-directed. As with those characteristics come the five levels of technology integration which are entry, adoption, adaptation, infusion, and transformation. Since this matrix consists of 25 cells then I will focus on the adaptation active cell and discuss how that turns out. The teacher starts to guide students on their own as far as the usage of their particular technology tool comes and this is why I felt the tablet is the best option in this stage. Students will be able to collaborate with others to share what knowledge they constructed from being able to explore this tool on their own.

As with all tools, we expect students to achieve some goal when working on it. The goal-directed area in this matrix still includes student choice as well as exploration. The students are getting authentic experiences that connects to them.

I will share links below that will include multiple ways it could be used in the classroom as well as applications that are very good to use as well.

  1. Hello Tiffany, I find the tablets to be an asset in the classroom as well. Even though the students in my district use iPads, they serve the same purpose. The students are very engaged on them and they have fun while learning. The only draw back I have with them is they put damper on their social skills. Thanks for allowing me to comment on your post.
