Blog Post #4 Technology Hardware

I decided to examine the android tablet when it came to looking further into the potential pedagogical functions on it. Android tablets are touchscreen devices developed by Google. You can download tons of applications on this device by accessing the google play store on it. I have found that android tablets tend to have less storage than most people would prefer. I am all about enhancing learning for the best. The Technology Integration Matrix (TIM) framework described and targeted the use technology for this purpose. I love that the characteristics for this framework are interdependent on each other. The TIM framework includes the following five interdependent characteristics for the learning environment: active, collaborative, constructive, authentic, and goal-directed. As with those characteristics come the five levels of technology integration which are entry, adoption, adaptation, infusion, and transformation. Since this matrix consists of 25 cells then I will focus on the adapta...

Blog Post #3 Technology Leadership

We all know that children learn in different ways. We're constantly moving towards a more technology based generation. Since children know how to access a variety of technology then we have to stay informed as well to find a way to integrate it in an educational manner. This can be a little intimidating for some people but this will be the best time to reach out to your friendly media specialists for all concerns. The reading mentioned that school librarians are in a unique position to serve as leaders and valuable assets through making meaningful contributions toward the integration of technology and learning (Johnston, 2012). Do you have kids who struggle a little with science? Check out  Science4Us  for help. Science4Us is like an online built science curriculum that is hands-on with animated lessons. Blog Post #2- Information and Digital Literacy

This week's readings informed me about how heavily we rely on technology that it can become hard for us to separate the truth from the fake news. It also showed how much students are constantly exposed to technology but there is so much 21st century skills that they need to know to be productive citizens once they graduate from the high school.  As I start with the P21 Framework for 21st Century, it showed the main vision for student success. As librarians, we are constantly looking into ways to welcome more users and serve them in the best way as possible. The learning does not stop for our students either. The framework recognizes how every student gets their daily language arts, math, social studies, and science etc. It brought to others attention of adding financial awareness, global skills, career skills, and of course media skills. These are things that students will have to know to be able to adapt in society so we should find ways to incorporate these when possible. In...

Blog Post #1 AASL & ISTE Standards

As I read "School Librarians Level Up" then I noticed how crucial the AASL standards are with ensuring school librarians give students what they need and getting others to recognize the learning continues outside of the library. (2018, p. 14) Most people outside the profession would probably be confused but then Sara Kardez (2018) took the lead initiative upon asking for volunteers to help digest the language of the AASL standards that she ended up with a big support to explore the standards. The librarians came up with the following domains for the shared foundation: explore, think, create, and grow. This will enable librarians to do more for students then they would during the original time. The author, Mary Lou O'Connor, did an awesome job of representing those domains when it came to students enjoying a digital menu for concepts (2019, p. 20). This was a task that required the domains for AASL but it also had similar views to the ISTE standards. The ISTE standards is...
